Consultation on Former Bishop Wilson School Sports Pitch
Solihull Council is consulting on its proposal to dispose of a remaining 0.5 hectare area of land that had been used as a sports pitch at the former Bishop Wilson Church of England primary school site.
Following the completion of the new Bishop Wilson primary school and the school’s subsequent relocation to its new building; the old site is undergoing a transformation, bringing new homes to Chelmsley Wood and opening up access to public open space and the River Cole. The site is designated for 140 homes in the Local Plan, adopted in December 2013.
The income from the sale of this remaining area of the Bishop Wilson site will go towards developing brand new sports facilities in other schools in the area.
As part of the redevelopment of the former school site the Council is under a statutory duty (under Section 77 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 and Schedule 1 to the Academies Act 2010) to consult on the proposal to dispose of the area that formed a sports pitch on the site.
The consultation will run from 23 June 2014 until 4 August 2014. The Council is seeking views from local residents, stakeholders and other interested parties.
