Call to Prevent Offroad Bikers Entering Babbs Mill
Friends Group “Action for Babbs Mill” has launched an online petition calling on Birmingham City Council and Solihull MBC to implement measures preventing off road bikers gaining access to Babbs Mill.
Sarah Evans, leader of Action for Babbs Mill, said:
“Today marks another exciting campaign launch for our group and Babbs Mill Park and LNR. Throughout the years Babbs Mill and the surrounding areas have suffered from the nuisance of off road vehicles ruining the grass verges, parts of the nature reserve and potentially damaging the natural environment. This year we have had no let up and the park and the residents are now suffering from this nuisance.
Babbs Mill is a park of outstanding beauty and the time has come for action and we as a group view ourselves as custodians of this natural beauty. We are asking for people to report any activity to either ourselves or WMP on 101 or Crimestoppers. We assure the public that any information that we receive will be dealt with in the strictest of confidence and will be turned over to the police and other relevant authorities. Of course we urge the public to remain vigilant and of course we urge them not to endanger themselves or others in obtaining any information. The course which is currently being taken by these off road vehicles seems to stretch from Shard End, Babbs Mill, Kingshurst, Meriden Park, Chelmsley Wood through to Coleshill.
The residents of all affected areas need to see something done to curb the usage of these off road vehicles on the roads and in the parks. This is why we have set an online petition up which demands prevention measures be put into place to assist in this. The link for this is here http://www.thepetitionsite.com/en-gb/853/093/144/off-road-bike-prevention-on-babbs-mill/ .
We kindly ask you to publicise this campaign in the hope that together we can achieve action. “
