Proposed changes to emotional wellbeing and mental health services for children and young people in Solihull from April 2015

Consultation ends June 29th 2014

Solihull Council, in partnership with NHS Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), is urging local people to have their say in a consultation on future plans for community mental health services for children and young people in the Solihull area. The consultation runs from Monday 2 June until Sunday 29 June 2014.

Solihull Council and Solihull CCG intend to use their combined purchasing power to secure more joined up emotional wellbeing and mental health services for children and young people in Solihull to start in April 2015. The new service will aim to provide a full range of treatments and work more closely with families, schools and GPs to support young people earlier.

Current providers of the service have given notice that they will cease to provide this service from April 2015. The procurement process for new services takes about nine months, so there is not much time before the 1 April 2015.

However, Solihull CCG and Solihull Council have been listening to stakeholders and consulting service users for some time about how emotional wellbeing and mental health services need to change. This is the ideal time to make improvements to how services work rather than just buying the same service from a different provider organisation.

More detail is available in separate documents to support the case for change, including:
