Woman Fined for Child’s Unauthorised Absences
A Solihull woman has been fined a total of £804 after her child’s unauthorised absence from school.
She was sentenced at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Monday 11 January 2016 after her child failed to attend Fordbridge Community Primary School for 33 sessions between April and July 2015.
The defendant had pleaded ‘Not Guilty’ but failed to attend the trial. The magistrates heard evidence in her absence and delivered a ‘Guilty’ verdict. The woman was fined £440 and ordered to pay the Council’s costs of £320 as well as a victim surcharge of £44, bringing the total fine to £804.
